Italy will support proposal to use frozen assets of aggressor country of russia, but only on condition that this is done on solid legal basis
The corresponding statement was made by Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, her words are quoted by Corriere della Sera.
"Italy has decided not to abandon its support for blocking russian assets, so that there is no doubt about the position that the government has always taken regarding Ukraine," said Meloni.
According to her, Rome considers it sacred to have russia pay for the restoration of Ukraine, which it has been attacking for almost four years.
However, Meloni emphasized that any instrument of support for Ukraine must comply with "our values eand rules" on which the rule of law is basedau.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on December 16, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk expressed deep pessimism about the rapid transfer of frozen Russian assets to Ukraine.
As a reminder, on December 12, the head of European diplomacy, Kaia Kallas, stated that the European Union had approved a new procedure that provides for the long-term freezing of Russian assets.
