The Ukrainian Navy has disclosed details of a multi-stage operation aimed at destroying a russian submarine of the Varshavyanka project directly in the port of Novorossiysk. The spokesman for the Ukrainian Navy Dmytro Pletenchuk announced this on the air of a national telethon.

It is noted that this operation was one of the most difficult, as it required careful preparation and passing a powerful system of protection of the russian naval base. For the successful destruction of the target, the development of special technical means and strict prevention of information leakage were critical.

"In this operation, which has many layers, from the development of the weapon itself to planning, with the exclusion of information leaks, to conduct such an event is a complex and rather difficult matter," the spokesman said.

In addition, due to the constant threat of Ukrainian strikes, the russian command usually uses tactics of maneuvering forces, which further complicates the planning of operations.

"The Russian military is forced to stay there and change the place of anchorage in case of any danger. That is, to move ships or leave the base in order to avoid being hit. And here, as you can see, they did not feel any danger," he emphasized.

Pletenchuk also recalled that in 2024 Ukraine had already destroyed the Rostov-on-Don submarine, which became a historical precedent for combat losses of this class of ships in the modern world. According to the spokesperson, the russian Black Sea Fleet has now set a kind of anti-record by losing its second submarine.

"...accordingly, there are still two such submarines and one submarine that is not a cruise missile carrier. In total, the Russians once had six of them in the Black Sea," Pletenchuk said.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, the Security Service of Ukraine conducted a unique special operation and hit a russian submarine in the port of Novorossiysk.

Moscow denies reports of the alleged destruction of one of its submarines, which was based in the Black Sea port of Novorossiysk.
