Law enforcement officers found the weapon used to kill MP Andriy Parubiy on August 30 in Lviv. Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko has announced this on his Telegram channel.
"There are new, fundamentally important results. First of all. In the course of investigative actions and joint operational activities, the gun used to kill Andriy Parubiy was found and seized. It was this weapon that the suspect tried to hide in a specially equipped "cache," the statement said.
In addition, new evidence has been obtained that indicates that the suspect committed not only premeditated murder, but also a number of serious crimes against the foundations of national security of Ukraine.
"The investigation established that the suspect acted in favor of the special services of the Russian Federation under martial law: he passed information to the enemy about the location and movement of units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine; provided intelligence materials to coordinate sabotage activities," Kravchenko said.
The facts of public justification of the russian aggression and denial of the fact of the war that began in 2014 have also been documented.
In this regard, the actions of the suspect are additionally qualified under Part 2 of Art. 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine: high treason and Part 1 and Part 3 of Art. 436-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine: justification and glorification of the armed aggression of the russian federation.
The suspect was previously charged with crimes under Part 1 of Article 263 and Article 112 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. He had been purposefully preparing for the murder for a long time - he collected information about the MP's routes and locations, received firearms from his Russian handlers, and on August 30 fired eight shots at Parubiy, killing him on the spot.
"Investigative actions are ongoing. We are focused on fully establishing all the circumstances of the crimes, as well as identifying possible accomplices and sources of coordination of the suspect's actions. I am grateful to the prosecutors, investigators and operatives of the SSU and the National Police for their work," the Prosecutor General added.
