In Ukraine, circuses, theaters, gyms, and large shopping centers now included in list of critical facilities, which guaranteed priority electricity supply - media

The Cabinet of Ministers has decided to review the list of critical facilities that are guaranteed priority electricity supply. Only two days have been allocated to do this. During this short period, all lists of critical infrastructure must be reviewed and "cleaned" of facilities that cannot be considered critically important. This is stated in the publication of the RBC-Ukraine publication "Will there be more light? Can the decisions of the Cabinet of Ministers soften the outage schedules".

Energy expert Hennadii Riabtsev said that it is "practically impossible" to review the list of critical facilities in such a short period.

"The lists are compiled by local authorities. Now the category of "critical" includes both circuses, theaters, gyms, and possibly large shopping centers," the expert noted.

The publication's journalists added that the improvement of the critical facilities selection system has been talked about since 2023 - since the restrictions began to be introduced. At that time, local authorities abused their powers and included in the category of critical companies that did not have special strategic importance.

According to Riabtsev, most of the enterprises on the list of "critical" cannot be considered such. "In the list of protected consumers, 2/3 have nothing to do with critical infrastructure facilities," he noted.

At the same time, the director of energy programs of the Razumkov Center Volodymyr Omelchenko noted that out of more than 5,000 critical enterprises, more than 3,000 are "difficult to classify as such."

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, in Kyiv, the intensity of street lighting has been reduced to 30% in order to save energy.
