Russian dictator vladimir putin announced plans to block phone calls to russians from so-called "unfriendly countries" at a meeting of the Human Rights Council. This is stated in a message from the Center for Countering Disinformation (CCD).
The Center noted that this initiative is explained by the need for "digital protection of citizens" from telephone and Internet scammers, the hysteria around which has recently been artificially fanned by the russian media.
"However, the real reason for such initiatives is the information isolation of russians, which the Kremlin has been systematically and gradually implementing since the beginning of the full-scale invasion. In recent days alone, WhatsApp, FaceTime, Snapchat, and even the popular children's gaming platform Roblox have been blocked in russia under the pretext of "security threats." At the same time, the russian federation is restricting access to network bypass systems and massively disconnecting mobile Internet," the Center added.
The Center emphasized that the Kremlin's ultimate goal is to create a "sovereign Internet" with full state control over all sources of available information and communication tools.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, according to the Center, cases of home Internet disconnection when using a VPN have been recorded in the aggressor country of russia.
