Police are establishing the circumstances of the death of the son of the first Ukrainian cosmonaut Leonid Kadeniuk
The Kyiv police informed about this, the Ukrainian News agency report.
Kadeniuk's son died in the Pecherskyi District of the capital.
"Today, at about 8 a.m., law enforcement officers received information about the discovery of the body of a 41-year-old Kyiv resident with stab wounds in one of the apartments of a local high-rise building. Currently, the investigative team of the district police department, operatives and a forensic expert are working at the scene. The issue of legal classification of the incident is being resolved," the police said.
The case has not yet been classified.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, the son of the first Ukrainian cosmonaut Dmytro Kadeniuk was found dead in Kyiv. Leonid Kadeniuk was the first cosmonaut of independent Ukraine, a test pilot, Major General of Aviation, Doctor of Biological Sciences. In 1997, he became the first citizen of independent Ukraine to fly into space on the American spacecraft Space Shuttle Columbia. During the flight, he conducted scientific experiments in biology and physics in zero gravity.
Kadeniuk is widely known as a symbol of Ukrainian cosmonautics and an active popularizer of science. After completing his flight career, he worked in the field of education and science, training future Ukrainian specialists in the space industry
