In Sumy, man fired at children with shotgun: four teenagers wounded

In Sumy, a 60-year-old man opened fire with a smooth-bore rifle at children, injuring four teenagers.

The head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration Oleh Hryhorov and the Sumy Regional Police have reported this.

The shooting took place on the evening of December 9 on a street in the city. Two underage girls reported the shooting to the police. Law enforcers promptly arrived at the scene, identified a possible apartment from which the shooting could have been carried out, and began a door-to-door search.

While inspecting the apartment of a 60-year-old local resident, police found a hunting rifle and a spent cartridge case. The man was detained.

As a result of the attack, four children aged 13 to 16 years old sustained light injuries. Doctors provided them with the necessary assistance, their lives are not in danger.

Criminal proceedings have been opened over this incident under articles providing for liability for attempted premeditated murder of two or more minors committed in a manner dangerous to the lives of many people. The police are establishing the shooter's motives and all the circumstances of the incident.

Recall that law enforcement detained a woman and her partner in the Vyshhorod District of the Kyiv Region on suspicion of systematic rape and sexual violence against a young girl.
