Russian propagandists continue to spread disinformation messages about the "complete control" over Kupyansk and the "successful repelling" of Ukrainian attacks on the city by the russian military. This is stated in the message of the Center for Countering Disinformation (CCD) under the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC).
Thus, propagandists report the alleged "destruction of several Ukrainian sabotage-reconnaissance groups" on the approaches to Kupyansk, emphasizing that they were thrown into the offensive to "maintain the informational hype around the city."
"These messages have nothing to do with reality and are another fabrication of russian propaganda. The enemy has been claiming the complete capture of Kupyansk and the alleged encirclement of 15 battalions of the Defense Forces of Ukraine in the city since early December, but these statements were denied by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine," the CCD emphasized.
The Center added that in fact most of Kupyansk is under the control of the Defense Forces of Ukraine, fighting is ongoing in the city. No Ukrainian units are surrounded.
The Center also called on to trust only verified sources of information.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on December 2, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi stated that the Defense Forces have significantly improved the tactical situation directly in Kupyansk, Kharkiv Region, and are clearing the city of russian occupiers.
