Russia launched drones, Kinzhals and Iskanders at Ukraine at night. How air defense system worked?

On the night of Sunday, December 7, the russian occupiers launched a combined attack on Ukraine's critical infrastructure facilities using attack UAVs, air and ground-based missiles. This is stated in a message by the Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

In total, the Air Forces' radio engineering troops detected and escorted 246 air attack vehicles - 5 ballistic missiles and 241 UAVs of various types. Among them:

  • 241 attack UAVs of the Shahed and Gerbera types (other types of drones) from Kursk, Oryol, Millerovo, Primorsko-Akhtarsk - russia, Chauda - TOT of the AR of Crimea (about 150 of them were Shaheds);
  • 3 Kh-47M2 Kinzhal air-launched ballistic missiles (launch areas: Tambov Oblast - russia);
  • 2 Iskander-M/KN-23 ballistic missiles (launch areas: Kursk Oblast - russian federation).

The air attack was repelled by aviation, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare and unmanned systems units, and mobile fire groups of the Ukrainian Defense Forces.

According to preliminary data, as of 9:00 a.m., air defense shot down/suppressed 179 air targets:

  • 175 enemy Shahed, Gerbera type UAVs (other types of UAVs);
  • 2 Kh-47M2 Kinzhal aerial ballistic missiles;
  • 2 Iskander-M/KN-23 ballistic missiles.

    A total of 65 strike UAVs were recorded at 14 locations.

    "The attack continues, there are several enemy UAVs in the airspace. Follow the safety rules!" the Air Forces said.

    As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on the night of Sunday, December 7, the military of the aggressor country russia launched a massive attack on the Poltava Region with missiles and drones. Several energy sector enterprises in the Kremenchuk District were hit.
