President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy congratulated the servicemen on the Day of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) and emphasized the exceptional role of their efforts in strengthening Ukraine's position in the negotiation track to end the russian-Ukrainian war.
"These years and these days are dedicated to this - the struggle for a just peace for all of us. I am grateful to the military who are doing everything on the battlefield to ensure that Ukraine has confidence at the negotiating table. Has dignity. Has strong arguments. Ukraine has all this. Because it has you," the President said in his address on the occasion of the Day of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, published on his official website on Saturday.
The Head of State mentioned all the branches of the Armed Forces that are involved in repelling russian aggression and emphasized that Ukraine is proud of them all.
"Each serviceman and servicewoman who defends Ukraine every day in every direction. Whose courage we see and whose protection we feel. Those who give their best every day. Those who have changed their own lives so that life in Ukraine could continue. Each serviceman and servicewoman is a warrior. Each serviceman and servicewoman is a hero. I congratulate each serviceman and servicewoman on the Day of the Armed Forces of Ukraine! Eternal glory to you! Eternal memory to those who gave their lives for Ukraine!" Zelenskyy said.
He also noted that the Day of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which is celebrated on December 6, is the day of "those who really unite our people in struggle, gratitude, memory and, of course, unite in great respect."
"This respect is not only in support, prayers, not only in donations and words that everyone will certainly write to their own soldiers today, which everyone has. This respect is about something more. It has become a separate phenomenon, a phenomenon of the new Ukraine. This respect has become an art... Different fates. Same values. Different names. The same respect for everyone. They grew up in different cities, different families, different homes, but everywhere they were brought up as real heroes," the President said, recalling those who gave their lives defending Ukraine.
"They are among us forever, in our hearts, in our poems, in the messages "Thank you!" I thank all the military of Ukraine. To all the heroes on the walls who stood up for Ukraine and are standing up for Ukraine. Together they are the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This is more than an army. It is more than a family. It is the personification of us - the whole of Ukraine. What we are fighting for, how and why. When there are no more alien cities and villages. Each is our own, each is native. And every corner of Ukraine is defended by soldiers from every corner of Ukraine," Zelenskyy added.
