Vodafone joins EU's single roaming space

Mobile operator Vodafone is implementing the principle of Roam like at home, which means that Ukraine is joining the EU's single roaming space.

This is indicated in a statement by Vodafone, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

The report says that starting December 23, the conditions will be updated for most pre-paid subscribers - the tariffs can be used in the EU countries as if they were at home without additional charges.

The company explained what this means for subscribers, namely, in tariffs without changing the cost, bundled minutes and part of the gigabytes of the total volume of the tariff can be used both in Ukraine and in roaming in the EU countries.

The basic principles for Ukrainian Vodafone numbers will be unlimited incoming calls both in Ukraine and in the EU; bundled minutes for calls to Ukrainian networks are also valid in the EU - outgoing calls to Ukraine and to the host country; part of the bundled gigabytes can be used both in Ukraine and in the EU and the same cost for over-the-top minutes, MB and SMS.

The company also said that the roaming service will be absent in the archived 4G Smart (Light, XS, XS+), Device and Light tariffs, whose users will be offered to switch to other available tariffs and use roaming services if necessary.

It is noted that all subscribers will receive a personalized SMS in December with a message about changes in each tariff.

Information about the changes with all the details will also be published on the page of each tariff - no later than two weeks before the changes begin.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on April 15, the Verkhovna Rada adopted draft law No. 12150 (on the implementation of EU legislation on electronic communications), which opens up the opportunity for Ukraine to join a single roaming area with the EU.

In turn, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed a law in June that paves the way for joint roaming with the European Union.
