Rada ups tax rate on bank profits from 25% to 50% in 2026

The Verkhovna Rada has increased the tax rate on bank profits from 25% to 50% in 2026.

272 MPs voted for the relevant bill No. 14097, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

The bill provides for:

- a temporary increase in the profit tax rate for banks to 50% for 2026;

ADVERTISING

- a ban on reducing the financial result before taxation by the amount of losses from previous periods.

This bill is temporary.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, during 2023-2024, the state made a decision to tax banks' excess profits at the end of the year.

But this year the tax was not raised and banks will pay corporate income tax at the base rate of 25%.

Solvent banks received UAH 119.4 billion in net profit in the first nine months of 2025, which is 1.9% higher than the same period last year.
