Ireland to provide EUR 125 million in non-lethal military and energy support for Ukraine

Ireland has pledged an additional EUR 125 million in financial support for Ukraine amid President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and First Lady Olena Zelenska make their first visit to the country. The funds will go towards non-lethal military and energy support.

The Guardian reports.

Prime Minister Micheál Martin said Ireland wanted to offer Volodymyr Zelenskyy not just words of reassurance during his visit to Dublin, but also practical assistance.

"An additional EUR 100 million in non-lethal military support will be provided to help Ukraine counter the devastating night-time attacks by russian missiles and drones. Ireland will also provide EUR 25 million for energy supplies to Ukraine to help counter russia's cynical and ruthless attacks," Martin said.

The leaders will also sign an agreement called the "Roadmap for Partnership between Ukraine and Ireland until 2030", which is based on a previous agreement from September 2024. The roadmap includes political and security cooperation, as well as initiatives in the fields of reconstruction, education and culture.

As a reminder, on the night of Tuesday, December 2, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and First Lady Olena Zelenska arrived in Ireland for their first official visit.
