General Staff denies russian claims of capture of Pokrovsk, Vovchansk and Kupyansk

Russian claims of alleged capture of Pokrovsk in the Donetsk Region, Vovchansk and Kupyansk in the Kharkiv Region are untrue. The Defense Forces continue defensive operations and, in particular, destroyed an enemy group that tried to plant the flag of the aggressor state of russia in Pokrovsk.

This was reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

"Units of the Defense Forces of Ukraine continue defensive operations on difficult sections at the front, in particular in Pokrovsk, Vovchansk, Kupyansk. The bravado statements of the leadership of the aggressor country about the "capture" of these settlements by the russian army are untrue," the General Staff statement said.

The department added that the Kremlin made another attempt to use the flag-raising video captured for propaganda purposes to influence participants in international negotiations.

It is reported that in Pokrovsk, a group that raised the russian flag in one of the city districts under the cover of fog was cleared.

Meanwhile, the Defense Forces are holding the northern part of the city along the railway line. Search and assault operations are ongoing to eliminate enemy cells. The enemy is suffering significant losses - over the past day, Ukrainian soldiers have neutralized a total of 104 occupiers in the Pokrovsk Axis.

"The Defense Forces are organizing additional logistical routes in the Pokrovsk and Myrnohrad areas to supply our positions with everything necessary," the General Staff reported.

At the same time, the situation in Vovchansk in the Kharkiv Region remains tense. The enemy is not giving up attempts to advance in this settlement, using small infantry groups, strike UAVs and artillery, the defenders "firmly hold their positions."

"The demonstration missions of the russians with the tricolors mean only one thing for the occupiers - they will be destroyed by the Ukrainian Defense Forces," the department said.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, American military analysts from ISW noted that russian state media are spreading false statements by russian dictator vladimir putin that the front line in Ukraine "will inevitably collapse," likely with the aim of forcing the West and Ukraine to capitulate to russia's demands, which it cannot provide with military means.
