President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported that the Netherlands has approved the provision of a second large package of assistance to Ukraine under the PURL program. This program allows the Ukrainian side to purchase modern American weapons, including key air defense equipment and the long-awaited F-16 fighters. He stated this in the Telegram channel.
President Zelenskyy specified that the Netherlands is allocating an additional USD 250 million for F-16s and air defense, which is the second tranche after the first package of USD 500 million under PURL. He emphasized that the F-16s have already shown their effectiveness in protecting Ukrainians. In addition, the Ukrainian authorities are studying the possibility of purchasing French Rafale fighters.
"We discussed promising areas of cooperation, the possibilities of localization in our country, and the technical characteristics of military aircraft, primarily multi-role fighters of the Rafale family, which Ukraine will be able to purchase within the framework of the declaration signed on November 17 with French President Emmanuel Macron," said the head of the Ukrainian state.
Recall that earlier, Defense Minister Shmyhal reported that Ukraine and the Netherlands were launching joint production of drones.
It was also noted that the Netherlands would provide Ukraine with EUR 200 million for systems to combat drones of the aggressor country of russia.
