Russian leader vladimir putin has given a direct order to the russian military to create a so-called "security zone" along the northern border with Ukraine. He made the announcement during a meeting with the military leadership, russian media reported.
During a meeting with the russian military leadership, vladimir putin announced his intention to create a "security zone" along the Ukrainian border, which is part of the area of responsibility of the "North" group.
Russian media noted that this wording means "the need to take control" of the border areas of the Kharkiv, Sumy and Chernihiv Regions of Ukraine. Currently, the russian army holds only a small part of the southern Sumy Region (Sumy district) and continues offensive operations in certain areas of the Kharkiv Region, in particular near Vovchansk.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, President Zelenskyy in Paris announced the difficult battles in the Pokrovsk Axis and the unsuccessful advance of small infantry groups of the russian army, and emphasized that the success remains for the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Kupyansk Axis, which the Ukrainian military "almost completely cleared."
Also, analysts from the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) stated that russian dictator vladimir putin is deliberately lying about the "imminent collapse" of Ukrainian defense in order to force Kyiv and its partners to accept surrender.
