The High Anti-Corruption Court (HACC) has imposed a pre-trial restraint in the form of detention on businessman and co-owner of Kvartal 95 Tymur Mindich, a defendant in the Energoatom corruption case. It was reported by Suspilne on Monday, December 1.
Mindich's interests in court were represented by a public lawyer, who said that he had failed to contact his client. In addition, Mindich was not granted bail due to the court hearing being held in absentia.
"Prosecutors explained that after the pre-trial restraint was imposed, the case could be transferred to Interpol to detain Mindich, in particular when he crosses the border. Participants in the process stated that his whereabouts are unknown," the statement said.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on November 22, businessmen Tymur Mindich and Oleksandr Tsukerman, who are suspected by law enforcement of committing corruption crimes in the energy sector, were put on the wanted list.
The National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) believes that former Defense Minister Rustem Umerov helped businessman Tymur Mindich receive significant amounts of money.
Recall that on November 10, NABU detectives came with searches to the house of a businessman, a co-owner of the Kvartal 95 studio Tymur Mindich, Minister of Justice Herman Halushchenko and to the Energoatom.
