Share of NPLs in banks down 0.5 pp to 24.5% in October

The share of non-performing loans (NPLs) in the banking sector as of November 1, 2025 was 24.5%, which is 0.5 pp lower than the indicator as of October 1..

This is stated in the message of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU), the Ukrainian News agency reports.

Besides, this is 5.8 pp less compared to the indicator at the beginning of the year.

The determining factor in the reduction of the NPL share in January-October 2025 was the growth in the volume of new loans of better quality.

Thus, the gross volume of loans in the banking system during this period increased by UAH 216.4 billion, or 16.7%, to UAH 1.515 trillion.

At the same time, the volume of non-performing loans decreased during this period by UAH 22.7 billion, or 5.8%.

The share of NPLs of individuals for 10 months of 2025 decreased by 1.9 pp to 12.6%, and businesses - by 7.4 pp to 31.6%.

Excluding the debts of the former owners of JSC CB PrivatBank and old debts of state-owned banks, the share of NPLs as of November 1, 2025 is 19.2% in state-owned banks and 13.9% in the banking system as a whole.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on the eve of russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the share of NPLs in Ukrainian banks has been steadily decreasing since 2018: from 55% to 27% as of March 1, 2022.
