Security Service of Ukraine maritime drones have begun to destroy russia's "shadow fleet". This gives Ukraine additional trump cards in peace negotiations. Political scientist, former MP Oleksandr Chernenko writes about this.
The expert believes that the strikes of Sea Baby drones will have significant consequences for the budget of our enemy and for the entire naval situation in the Black Sea region. "The timing was very precisely chosen - just before the negotiations with the American side. This is a demonstration of a very important trump card, as Donald Trump likes to say. The kid has once again demonstrated that SBU sanctions are among the most effective in this war. The special service has once again conducted an exemplary and jewelry-precise world-class special operation that will be studied by colleagues from other countries," the former MP emphasizes.
"The SSU has once again modernized its unique development - maritime drones, which can now cover ultra-long distances and carry an enhanced warhead. Naval drones have become an important factor in the entire war: the destruction of the Crimea bridge, changing the balance of power in the Black Sea, which allowed us to restore our own sea corridor, and now a blow to the shadow fleet of the Russian Federation. These are just the main special operations of the Service using this development," Chernenko writes.
The political analyst emphasizes that Malyuk's subordinates struck where he does the most damage to the enemy. "The 'shadow fleet' is of key importance to the Russians under sanctions - it provides up to 30% of oil exports. And a quarter of all enemy oil passes through the Black Sea ports. Every week, Russia earns about USD 1 billion thanks to the shadow fleet. Each of the affected vessels could carry oil worth USD 70 million. But the losses of the Russians after the SSU strikes will not be limited to these 70 million: now, because of the risks, the freight price and insurance costs for all ships will increase. This means that it will become much less profitable to transport the Kremlin's oil, as logistics costs will increase significantly," the expert summarizes.
As a reminder, it was reported earlier that the Sea Baby maritime drones of the SSU hit two sanctioned oil tankers KAIRO and VIRAT, belonging to the russian "shadow fleet" in the Black Sea. The video shows that both tankers were critically damaged after the hits and were actually taken out of service. The tankers were not loaded, and their damage did not cause any environmental damage.
