On December 1, at the age of 80, one of the brightest players in the history of Dynamo Kyiv, Volodymyr Muntyan, passed away after a long illness. This is reported by the club's official website.

An alumnus of Kyiv football, Muntyan became the USSR champion seven times, won the National Cup twice, and in 1975 won the Cup Winners' Cup and the UEFA Super Cup with the team. He played 420 matches for Dynamo and scored 77 goals, and played 49 matches for the USSR national team, becoming a participant in the 1970 World Cup and a bronze medalist in the 1976 Olympics.

Thanks to this, Muntian became not only one of the symbols of technical Kyiv football, but also a legend of Ukrainian football. He was distinguished by his brilliant coordination, intuition, ability to make instant decisions and deliver accurate sharp passes. Valeriy Lobanovskyi called him "a midfielder with a unique handwriting and impeccable technique."

After his career, Muntyan worked as a coach for many years. He stood at the origins of the training of the youth national teams of independent Ukraine, headed Cherkasy, Obolon, Kryvbas, Vorskla, as well as the Dynamo youth team, where Serhiy Rebrov gained his first coaching experience.
