The Chief of the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine Kyrylo Budanov considers the Third Assault Brigade, which was transformed into the Third Army Corps, to be exemplary units that have shown that Ukraine is capable of defense and offense at critical moments of the state's existence.
He said this while commenting on the inclusion of the Third Army Corps commander Andrii Biletskyi in the rating of UP-100 by Ukrainska Pravda.
Budanov noted that Biletskyi is scaling up the systemic experience of the Third Assault Brigade to the newly created army corps, which is yielding significant results.
According to Budanov, Biletskyi's strategic approach to the defense of Ukraine makes him a skillful commander and military statesman.
"He is a volunteer who became a general in the war. Andrii Biletskyi is a figure that inspires young people: the power of words and weapons, nobility, responsibility for people, the will to fight, results on the battlefield that give confidence in the victory of good over evil," Budanov wrote.
The chief intelligence officer said for the first time that Biletskyi took part in an operation to break through to the blocked Azovstal to help its garrison.
"It's not only about professional training and modern equipment, but also about the attitude towards the life of a soldier - this is the main thing. Perhaps one of the most illustrative episodes in this context is the DIU's air raid on the Russian-encircled Azovstal, when it was necessary to help our heroic garrison. Andriy Biletskyi played an important role in this operation as a leader and commander. We made a number of successful flights and delivered reinforcements, weapons, medicines and doctors, evacuated the seriously wounded," said Kyrylo Budanov.
According to him, the DIU's special forces often "acted together with the Third's soldiers in the most difficult areas - and every time this coordinated cooperation had the necessary effect."
