A rally of the families of Ukrainian prisoners of war took place on Independence Square in Kyiv, demanding the return of defenders and accountability for corruption within the army. Participants handed over a letter addressed personally to Donald Trump
According to the organizers, the action of the families of prisoners, missing persons and defenders of Ukraine is aimed at drawing the attention of the state and the international community to the critical situation with the exchange and search for our people
Families of missing persons and prisoners of war drew attention to the following issues
- establishing a real, effective, full-fledged state search for missing persons with access to all resources and structures that can establish the whereabouts and fate of our military, so that families are not left alone with this;
- strengthening responsibility for corruption in wartime by introducing full confiscation of corrupt officials' property and directing the proceeds to support the families of the wounded, missing and disabled, as corruption during the war directly deprives the frontline of proper support.
- to strengthen international control over the detention of Ukrainian prisoners, to ensure access of the International Committee of the Red Cross to the places of their detention, as well as to intensify international pressure on the Russian Federation to confirm the status of our military, ensure the repatriation of bodies and facilitate the creation of an international mechanism for the exchange and identification of missing persons
We would like to remind you that during the previous action, MP Anna Skorokhod offered to join a joint letter to be personally delivered to US President Donald Trump. During today's action, the participants, who had been collecting signatures for a month, handed over the letter so that the President of the United States of America would personally take this issue under his attention in the negotiations
