Potato imports to Ukraine increased 5 times

In January-October 2025, potato imports increased 5.1 times and amounted to 123,140 tons compared to the same period in 2024.

This is stated in a report by the State Customs Service, Interfax Ukraine reports.

The State Customs Service reported that in monetary terms, potato imports increased 4.8 times, to USD 66.086 million against USD 13.69 million a year ago.

Thus, the main imports were carried out from Poland (36.9% of deliveries in monetary terms), Egypt (13.7%) and the Netherlands (11.6%).

In January-October 2025, potato exports from Ukraine decreased by 13.4% to 2,140 tons, but in monetary terms, sales were more profitable and increased by 2.4% to USD 521,000 compared to the same period in 2024.

The main buyer of Ukrainian potatoes was Moldova (58.5% of all export supplies), Azerbaijan (38.6%) and Singapore (0.6%).

In October 2025, potato imports decreased by 11.4 times to 359 tons (October 2024 4,090 tons) compared to the same period in 2024, and exports increased by 4.6 times (269 tons).

Deputy Minister of Economy, Environment and Agriculture Taras Vysotskyi noted in a podcast by the Center for Economic Strategies that the 2025 vegetable harvest in Ukraine is sufficient and even larger than last year, so no deficit is expected in this sector.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the potato harvest in Ukraine is higher than last year, prices are falling, but imports are even cheaper.
