In November, crude oil imports from the aggressor country of russia to India will reach the highest level in the last five months. This is due to US sanctions and massive purchases of raw materials before they come into force.
This was reported by Reuters with reference to data from the company Kpler.
According to preliminary data from Kpler, in November, imports of russian oil to India will increase to 1.8 million barrels per day. In October, this figure was 1.4 million barrels per day. The November figures will be the highest since July this year, when imports were 1.5 million barrels per day.
An unnamed source told Reuters that supplies from russia will be high, as Indian oil refineries have taken measures to replenish stocks amid US sanctions. Therefore, they have ordered the maximum volume of oil before the restrictions come into force.
The agency's interlocutor suggested that in December the level of imports will probably fall to the lowest level in the last three years.
Banking control after the imposition of US sanctions has forced Indian oil refiners to "exercise extreme caution," another source told Reuters. He believes that in December oil imports from russia to India will fall to 600-650 thousand barrels per day.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on November 24, Bloomberg reported that russia has set a high discount on its Urals brand oil. Against this background, Indian companies have become interested in purchasing large volumes of raw materials through suppliers that are not under sanctions.
Recall that in early November it became known that the five largest oil refining companies in India have not placed orders for oil from russia for December this year.
Also at the beginning of the month, US President Donald Trump said that India has significantly reduced its purchases of russian oil.
