The United States stated that Washington's ability to provide Ukraine with weapons has limits, while emphasizing the administration's desire to end the war diplomatically.
This was stated in an interview with Fox News by White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt.
The press secretary emphasized that the United States "cannot provide Ukraine with weapons indefinitely" in the context of the ongoing war with russia. She stated that US President Donald Trump is spending a lot of time and effort searching for ways to resolve the situation and, according to her, deserves gratitude for these actions.
Levitt emphasized that although Trump "has stopped funding this war at the expense of US taxpayers," the country continues to transfer or sell significant batches of weapons to Ukraine through NATO mechanisms.
"We cannot do this indefinitely. The President wants this war to end," the press secretary noted.
She also added that Trump's disappointment reflects the sentiments of a significant part of American society, which is closely following the course of the conflict.
Washington confirmed that the US priority remains to end the war diplomatically.
Meanwhile, the US Senate accused Trump of the failure of the sanctions policy against russia.
