Bringing the US "peace plan" to a format acceptable to Ukraine will require months of painstaking negotiations.

The Washington Post's source familiar with the content of the document has said this.

"Even if Zelenskyy wanted to sign it, he couldn’t because there is no political basis for it," the source said, emphasizing that "there are many nonstarters there."

He compared what is happening to the preparation of a minerals agreement between Washington and Kyiv, recalling that it was finalized for three months before being signed.

"But this deal is between the U.S., Ukraine, Russia and Europe, so I think it will be more like 12 months to negotiate. I think this is the beginning of the peace process, not the end," the source said.

Another official told The Washington Post that Zelenskyy asked for changes to the plan at a meeting with a US delegation led by US Secretary of the Army Dan Driscoll, and the general's team agreed to some corrections. It is not specified which ones.

"It looks like the US has split its teams between Driscoll and Whitkoff to play good cop and bad cop - one is pushing and the other is trying to say, 'Let's work together on changes,'" the official said.

Meanwhile, Bloomberg sources say that Zelenskyy, along with the leaders of France, Germany and other European countries, are trying to rewrite the US peace plan by the November 27 deadline and present it as a constructive update. The leaders are trying to buy time for Ukraine to work out new terms for a ceasefire with russia.
