US President Donald Trump's so-called "peace plan" to end the war stipulates that Ukraine will have to give the aggressor country russia a territory the size of Luxembourg.
The French news agency AFP reported this with reference to the data of the Institute for the Study of War (ISW).
According to the American plan to end the war, Ukraine should cede the territories of the Luhansk and Donetsk Regions under its control. This is a little more than 5,000 square kilometers.
Russia, on the other hand, will allegedly have to withdraw its troops from the territories it occupies in the Sumy, Chernihiv, Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk and Mykolaiv (Kinburn Spit) Regions. Their total area is approximately 2,000 square kilometers.
Thus, russia is offered to get 2.3 thousand square kilometers of Ukraine's territory without a fight. This is practically comparable to the area of Luxembourg (2,600 square kilometers).
AFP writes that Trump's "peace plan" obliges Ukraine to give up 20% of its territory in exchange for the return of less than 0.5%.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on November 19, the American edition Axios wrote that the United States has developed a plan to end the war in Ukraine. It was developed in consultation with russia.
Later, the publication published the text of the peace plan. The document consists of 28 points, one of which states that Ukraine will have to give up the territories of the Luhansk and Donetsk Regions. Also, the aggressor country will retain control over Crimea and the occupied territories of the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson Regions.
Today, on November 21, US President Donald Trump said that Ukraine should accept a peace plan on November 27, when Americans celebrate Thanksgiving Day.
