Ukraine will receive gas from the United States. The Naftogaz Group and Polish energy company ORLEN have signed an agreement finalizing arrangements for the supply of 300 million cubic meters of American liquefied natural gas (LNG) in the first quarter of 2026.
This is stated in the message of Naftogaz.
The parties signed a preliminary statement of intent on November 7 in Greece during the P-TEC energy conference.
"We are consistently diversifying sources and routes of gas supply to strengthen our energy resilience. This year, under our agreements with ORLEN, 600 million cubic meters of American LNG will be supplied to Ukraine. In total, in 2026, we expect to import 1 bcm of US LNG. I am grateful to our Polish partners for their trust," said Serhii Koretskyi, the Chairman of the Board of Naftogaz of Ukraine.
The gas will be regasified at the Świnoujście terminal in Poland and will be delivered to Ukraine through the Polish-Ukrainian border.
"Only a few days passed between the signing of the letter of intent and the conclusion of the final contract. During this time, we finalized all the terms of the contract and obtained the necessary corporate approvals. Such speed would not have been possible without mutual trust and a clear understanding of the needs and goals of each party. The cooperation between our companies strengthens the energy security of the region and creates conditions for further business development and strengthening of market positions on both sides," said Robert Soszyński, Vice President of Operations at ORLEN.
