Ukraine has made an important amendment to the draft US "peace plan", excluding the point on the verification of all international aid received by the state. This is reported by The Wall Street Journal.
American officials explained that the initial version of the document contained a requirement to conduct a full verification of external support for Ukraine - probably in order to prevent possible corruption risks. The new version no longer contains such a provision. Instead, it is proposed that all parties receive "full amnesty for their actions during the war".
According to the publication, other elements of the US plan are still being agreed with Ukraine. White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt reported that the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Rustem Umerov has already supported a significant part of the proposed provisions during the negotiations.
At the same time, European states are actively forming their own alternative proposal for ending the war and are trying to convince Kyiv to support their initiative. According to the WSJ, Ukraine has not yet agreed to participate in this European plan.
The so-called US "peace plan" is a large and controversial document with 28 points, which provides for significant concessions from Ukraine in the military, territorial and political spheres in exchange for security guarantees and economic support.
As a reminder, NBC News reported that US President Donald Trump has allegedly approved the settlement plan. The White House expects that a framework agreement will be reached by the end of the month.
