Anti-corruption agencies have done their job perfectly - Budanov

In an interview with Channel 24, Chief of the Defense Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine Kyrylo Budanov noted the successful work of anti-corruption agencies in the high-profile Mindich-gate case. According to him, the exposure of corruption schemes proves the effectiveness of the NABU and the SAPO.

"There is a fact of corruption in the energy sector, one of the most painful for our society, because there are at least power outages," Budanov said.

He emphasized that anti-corruption bodies "did their job perfectly."

"They exposed and they at least stopped this horror. That is, they have definitely done their job," Budanov said.

The next stage, according to the head of the Defense Intelligence, is the trial. "The court will have the final say. Ukraine is a rule-of-law democratic state! The court must put an end to this issue and it will definitely do so," the Defense Intelligence chief said.

He also emphasized the personal responsibility of the perpetrators: "Those who deliberately committed such acts, especially during the war and in socially important areas, must be punished accordingly. There can be no excuses. If they did it consciously, then they must be punished."

According to Budanov, this case has once again confirmed the importance and necessity of independent anti-corruption bodies for the state: "We can only applaud them."
