French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot said that peace in Ukraine cannot be achieved through its surrender. It was reported by Radio Liberty.
He believes that it is worth starting with an "immediate unconditional ceasefire", calling it a rational step.
"We want peace, Ukrainians want peace: a just peace that respects sovereignty and a lasting peace that cannot be called into question by future aggressions. But peace is not capitulation. We do not want Ukraine to surrender, and it is clear that the Ukrainians who have been heroically resisting for more than three years will never agree to surrender," Barrot said.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, the administration of US President Donald Trump is secretly consulting with the country-aggressor russia on the development of a new 28-point plan to end the war in Ukraine.
The White House expects that a framework agreement to end the war in Ukraine will be reached by the end of this month, possibly this week.
