Pentagon officials made an unannounced visit to Kyiv as part of the Trump administration's efforts to find ways to speed up the end of the war.
This was reported by Politico, citing two informed sources.
Starting on November 19, US Secretary of the Army Dan Driscoll and Chief of Staff of the United States Army General Randy George are to hold a series of meetings with Ukrainian military and political leaders, including President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
According to the publication, the key topic of the talks will be interaction with Kyiv on the stalled peace process, despite the fact that russia has previously rejected all US and Ukrainian initiatives to end hostilities.
A large-scale agreement on the exchange of technology for drones, which Washington and Kyiv have been working on in recent months, will be discussed separately. The visit is expected to strengthen these technical negotiations.
During a recent press conference at the Pentagon, Randy George emphasized that the United States is closely studying the Ukrainian experience of waging war and implementing new technologies. According to him, this experience has shown "how quickly you can move forward," and the American army is already trying to adapt these developments during its own exercises.
According to media reports, the Trump administration is conducting private consultations with russian officials in search of a new plan to end the war in Ukraine.
As a reminder, the US Special Envoy for the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, will join the planned talks in Turkey with Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
