The National Bank is not currently developing a design for a 5000 hryvnia banknote.
This is stated in the message of the NBU, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

If the decision to update the denomination range of the national currency banknotes of Ukraine is changed in the future, the NBU will inform the public about it.
"We see that a video about the alleged design of the "new 5000 hryvnia banknote" is being spread on the Internet and in some media. We emphasize that this information is not true. The video shows a presentation product "Panteleimon Kulish" made in 2008 to demonstrate the technological capabilities of the National Bank of Ukraine's Banknote Printing and Minting Works," the statement said.
The NBU notes that this product is a printed product manufactured by the NBU Mint, but is not a banknote - it does not contain the denomination and the name/designation of the Ukrainian currency "hryvnia", and therefore cannot be put into circulation as a means of payment (and is not planned to be).
The presentation product was produced exclusively in souvenir booklets for advertising purposes.
In addition, the product bears the inscriptions "PRESENTATION", "CANNOT BE USED AS A MEANS OF PAYMENT".
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, as of October 1, 2025, the amount of cash in circulation in Ukraine amounted to UAH 890.1 billion, which is UAH 30.2 billion more than as of July 1.
As of October 1, 2025, there were 63 banknotes and 191 payment coins in circulation per capita (as of January 1, 2025, there were 63 and 186 coins, respectively).
Among the banknotes, the largest number of banknotes in circulation is in the denomination of 500 hryvnias, the smallest - in the denomination of 50 hryvnias (26.6% and 4.5% of the total number of banknotes in circulation, respectively).
