The International Monetary Fund is offering Ukraine a new program with funding of about USD 8 billion for 4 years, which is less than Ukraine expected and needed. The head of the parliamentary budget committee Roksolana Pidlasa (Servant of the People faction) announced this on Facebook, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
Pidlasa said that the IMF mission had begun its work in Kyiv to hold official talks on a new program of cooperation with Ukraine, and representatives of the Rada Budget Committee discussed the details of the 2026 budget with the head of the mission, Gavin Gray, and his colleagues.
"The total amount of the program that the IMF offers to Ukraine is about USD 8 billion for 4 years. This is less than we expected and than we need, but the program with the IMF is the key to obtaining financing from other partners, including a reparations loan," she said.
Pidlasa added that the IMF's decision to launch the program is expected in January, and the first disbursement will be made at the same time, while the preliminary action to be taken to launch the program is the adoption of the budget for 2026 within the deficit agreed with the IMF.
According to her, as for the structural beacons, the IMF is most interested in increasing state budget revenues, in particular by closing tax avoidance schemes started discussions with the Ukrainian authorities on a new Extended Fund Facility (EFF) program.
