The American company Chevron is planning to buy the foreign assets of the russian company Lukoil, against which the United States imposed sanctions at the end of October this year.

Reuters reported this, citing its own sources.

Five unnamed sources told the agency on condition of anonymity that the company is studying the possibility of buying Lukoil's assets. They did not provide any other details.

After the imposition of US sanctions, several companies have already started a race for Lukoil's portfolio, which is worth at least USD 20 billion.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on November 14, Reuters wrote, citing a source, that the American private company Carlyle is studying the possibility of buying Lukoil's foreign assets.

As a reminder, since the sanctions were imposed and as of November 12, Lukoil's market capitalization has fallen by almost USD 10 billion.

As we reported earlier, US and UK sanctions have almost completely paralyzed Lukoil's operations. The company is experiencing problems with the operation of almost all of its assets.
