Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has once again questioned the possibility of Ukraine's victory in the war with russia and sharply criticized the European Union's financial assistance to Kyiv.
He stated this in an interview with Mathias Döpfner, CEO of the Axel Springer media group, which owns Politico.
According to the Hungarian prime minister, the allocation of funds to Ukraine is allegedly "economically and financially killing" the European Union and is "just crazy." Orbán said that the EU has already spent EUR 185 billion and "plans to burn even more" by funding a country that, in his opinion, "has no chance of winning the war."
He also accused the EU leadership of deliberately dragging out the war, calling this position "totally wrong." In his opinion, the situation is now "better for the Russians" and the conflict should be stopped as soon as possible.
Speaking about possible peace talks, Orbán said that he expects agreements between the US and russia on war, trade, energy and other global issues. He also believes that Europe should "open an independent communication channel to Russia" and form a common position with Washington after separate negotiations.
Recall that Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán stated that external forces should force russia and Ukraine to peace, noting that in the case of Ukraine it would be easier.
