Russia may restore its military forces to attack a NATO member state sooner than expected. German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius noted that the initial forecast was for 2029, but now the Alliance is preparing for the fact that an attack could occur even before that date. He said this in an interview with the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung newspaper.

During the interview, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius was reminded that strengthening Germany's defense takes time, while vladimir putin is rapidly building up his arsenal. The minister confirmed that russia could attack NATO countries earlier than the projected 2029, and Germany may not have enough time to make systematic changes.

"This issue remains speculative. Military experts and intelligence services can roughly estimate when Russia will rebuild its armed forces to the point where it will be able to attack a NATO member state in the east. We have always said that this could happen from 2029," Pistorius said.

Pistorius acknowledged that russia could attack NATO sooner than predicted. He noted that there are estimates that the war could begin as early as 2028, while military historians generally believe that last summer was the "last peaceful one."

Despite the growing threat, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius urged not to panic about the Alliance's defense capabilities. He emphasized that NATO has a significant potential to stop the aggressor.

"We should not create the impression that NATO is not able to defend itself. It is capable. It has a significant deterrence potential. Conventionally, but, of course, also nuclear. Regardless, we have capable armed forces, but, yes, we need to equip them even better," he said.

Recall that NATO Secretary General Fogh Rutte said that russia is building up its military capabilities by producing tanks, missiles and armored vehicles and may pose a threat to NATO countries in 5 years.

The head of Germany's Federal Intelligence Service, Bruno Kahl, said that russia's attack on Europe depends on the course of the war in Ukraine. Russia may test NATO's collective security guarantees, and if the war in Ukraine ends before 2029-2030, it will increase the risks for Europe.
