President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said he had not communicated with the co-owner of Kvartal-95, Tymur Mindich, since the beginning of the investigation into corruption schemes in the energy sector. He said this in an interview with Bloomberg.
"The most important thing is the sentences for the guilty. The President of a country that is at war cannot have friends," he said.
According to the head of state, both businessmen and some government representatives are involved in the case being investigated by anti-corruption authorities.
"Businessmen and some government officials are involved in this investigation. First of all, ministers bear political responsibility, and then, depending on the results of the investigation and court decisions, other responsibilities," Zelenskyy said.
"As President, I must ensure that anti-corruption authorities have all the powers, and I do not influence them. Everyone must be equally responsible before the law," he added.
As a reminder, Zelenskyy signed a decree on the introduction of sanctions against Tymur Mindich and Oleksandr Tsukerman, defendants in the Energoatom corruption case. Both, according to the decree, are citizens of Israel.
The State Border Guard Service of Ukraine stated that Mindich had registered his departure from Ukraine in accordance with the norms of current legislation and left the country legally.
