Vatican officially denies Jesus appearance in French town of Dozulé

The Vatican has said that reports of alleged appearance of Jesus Christ in the French town of Dozulé (Normandy) are not of supernatural origin and should not be accepted by true Catholics.

This was reported by Reuters.

In a document approved by Pope Leo, the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith noted that "the phenomenon of the so-called appearances is definitively recognized as not supernatural," and recalled that such cases cannot be used for profit or to create cults without church approval.

The legend of the "Dozulé appearance" dates back to the 1970s, when a local resident claimed to have seen Jesus 49 times and, on his orders, was to erect a 7.38-meter cross on a hill. She also spread "messages" about the imminent end of the world - until the year 2000.

"Obviously, this prophecy did not come true," the Vatican stressed.

The Catholic Church recognizes the possibility of supernatural appearances, but only after careful study. Among those officially approved are the appearance of the Virgin Mary in Guadalupe (Mexico, 1531) and the appearance of Jesus to the Polish nun Faustina Kowalska in the 1930s.

As a reminder, the house in which the first American Pope Leo XIV grew up was purchased by the village of Dalton (32 km from Chicago) for USD 375,000.
