The High Anti-Corruption Court has imposed a pre-trial restraint on Lesia Ustymenko and Ihor Fursenko, who are suspected of involvement in a large-scale corruption scheme to embezzle funds from the state-owned Energoatom company.
This became known from the HACC broadcast.
The court ruled to take Ustymenko into custody with the right to post bail in the amount of UAH 25 million.
According to the investigation, Ustymenko, along with other suspects - Ihor Fursenko (Rioshyk), former advisor to the Minister of Energy Ihor Myroniuk (Roket) and Lyudmyla Zorina - was engaged in legalizing the funds received as a result of the criminal scheme
The prosecutor said that Ustymenko had ensured the laundering of more than UAH 145 million. Her defense lawyers asked for a lighter measure of restraint, citing the fact that she and her husband had allegedly been out of work since the start of the full-scale invasion.
The same evening, the court set an alternative measure of restraint for Ihor Fursenko (Rioshyk) in the form of bail in the amount of UAH 95 million , despite the fact that prosecutors insisted on the amount of UAH 254 million - two and a half times more.
According to the investigation, Fursenko acted as an accountant for the so-called "back office" and was responsible for financial transactions related to money laundering.
During the court hearing, the prosecutor read out a transcript of a conversation between Fursenko and businessman Oleksandr Tsukerman, where the suspect said that he worked for Fire Point, a company known as the manufacturer of Flamingo missiles. According to him, he got a job there to be able to travel abroad and move freely on the territory of Ukraine.
As a reminder, today the HACC sent two more defendants in the case into custody - Ihor Myroniuk, for whom bail was set at UAH 126 million, and Dmytro Basov (Tenor), Executive Director for Security at Energoatom, with bail set at UAH 40 million.
