Visa has announced the launch of a pilot project that will allow businesses and platforms to send payments directly to recipients' stablecoin wallets.

This is stated in the message of Visa, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

It is noted that businesses that use the Visa Direct international transfer platform can finance payments in fiat currency and receive them in stablecoins backed by the US dollar, such as USDC.

This project makes global payments even more accessible and extends Visa Direct's reach to creators, freelancers, and marketplaces by providing them with a means to accumulate and access funds faster, even in countries with currency volatility or limited banking infrastructure.

According to a new study, Monetized: Visa 2025 Creator Economy Report, quick access to funds is the main reason why digital creators choose electronic payment methods. 57% of respondents consider instant access to money to be the main advantage of digital payments for content creation.

The advantages of payments in stablecoins are the following:

  • fast cross-border payments without being tied to the operational time of banks and delays in international transfers;
  • a stable value pegged to the US dollar provides predictability;
  • each transfer is transparently recorded on the blockchain;
  • users can store, spend or convert stablecoins.

This service is suitable for international businesses, marketplaces, platforms for freelancers or creators, and fintech companies, as well as for recipients who have a compatible stablecoin wallet and have passed customer identification and anti-money laundering (KYC/AML) compliance checks.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, Visa has previously announced that it is creating AI agents for daily online purchases of goods and services.
