Today, on November 12, Herman Halushchenko was suspended from his duties as Minister of Justice.
Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko has announced this.
She explained that the decision was made during the morning extraordinary meeting of the Government.
"It was decided to remove Herman Halushchenko from the duties of the Minister of Justice," the statement said.
The Prime Minister informed that the Deputy Minister of Justice for European Integration Liudmyla Suhak was entrusted with the duties of the Minister.
As a reminder, earlier the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine confirmed that investigative actions were taken with the participation of the head of the department, Herman Halushchenko, within the framework of criminal proceedings, however, the Ministry refused to discuss the details.
On November 10, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAPO) announced that they were conducting a large-scale operation to expose corruption in the energy sector.
On November 10, NABU detectives searched the homes of a businessman, co-owner of the Kvartal 95 studio Tymur Mindich, Minister of Justice Herman Halushchenko and Energoatom.
MP Yaroslav Zhelezniak (Holos) said that he had submitted a petition to the Verkhovna Rada to dismiss the current Minister of Justice Herman Halushchenko, as well as a resolution to dismiss Energy Minister Svitlana Hrynchuk.
Meanwhile, Halushchenko, whose house was searched by the NABU the day before in the case of corruption in the energy sector, said, that lives on one minister's salary, raising 4 children.
