Zelenskyy tells how King Charles III helped establish dialogue with Trump on support for Ukraine

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that King Charles III of Great Britain played a non-public but key role in improving his relationship with US President Donald Trump.

He said this in an interview with The Guardian.

According to Zelenskyy, after a tense meeting in Washington in February 2025, where a dispute arose between him and Trump over a possible ceasefire, US support for Ukraine came into question.

However, during his visit to the UK in September, Trump met with King Charles III. This conversation, the Ukrainian President claims, influenced the future position of the US leader.

Zelenskyy noted that Trump sincerely respects the British monarch and considers him "a very important figure." It was this respect, according to the Ukrainian President, that helped convey to Trump the importance of continuing to support Kyiv.

Recall, during a state dinner with US President Donald Trump, King Charles III of Great Britain confirmed his support for Ukraine. The monarch noted "Trump's personal commitment to finding solutions to complex international conflicts for peace".

Earlier, the media wrote that Charles III played a decisive role in convincing US President Donald Trump that Ukraine could win the war against russia. And personal talks with the King during Trump's recent visit to the UK were "very important".
