According to Zelenskyy, in his new position, Cherevashenko will have to scale up the development of the unmanned component in the Air Forces.

"At the meeting of the Staff of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief, we have approved many tasks for the new leader. It is important to actively introduce drones, namely interceptor drones, and to strengthen our air defense system with the latest weapons," he emphasized.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, Ukraine is launching a program aimed at protecting frontline cities, in particular Kherson, from r.ussian drones. The program was developed by the Unmanned Systems Command.

Earlier, the President said that starting in November, Ukraine plans to deploy 500-800 interceptors on daily duty to repel attacks by Shahed drones.
