The European Commission has significantly restricted the issuance of multiple-entry visas for citizens of the aggressor country russia in order to carefully screen applicants and reduce potential security risks. The head of the President's Office announced this on his Telegram channel on Friday, November 7.
Yermak noted that from now on, russians will have to apply for a new visa every time. At the same time, the sanctions group proposed to completely ban or drastically restrict the possibility for russian citizens to travel to Europe.
"Some European countries, including Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, the Czech Republic and Finland, have long imposed a ban on the entry of Russian tourists. We have proposed either a complete ban on tourist travel by Russian citizens to all countries of the sanctions coalition or a special levy for the restoration and reconstruction of Ukraine. We also proposed to introduce a complete ban on entry for members of all Russian parties and other organizations that publicly support Russian aggression," the head of the President's Office wrote.
According to him, all those who fought against Ukraine and their family members should be banned from entering the European Union for life. All democratic countries should adopt much stricter rules for the admission of russian citizens to their own territory for the sake of the safety of their own citizens, Yermak emphasized.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on October 23, the European Union finally approved the 19th package of sanctions against russia.
On October 13, the head of Germany's Federal Intelligence Service (BND), Martin Jaeger, said that the aggressor country russia intends to "test the strength of the borders of the European Union.
On October 8, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen stated that russia is waging a hybrid war against the European Union.
