Social Policy Ministry refutes fake news about payment of "winter support" at expense of educational programs

Against the backdrop of the announcement of the government program "Winter Support", false information began to spread online about the alleged financing of these payments at the expense of educational budget programs. This was reported by the Ministry of Social Policy, Family and Unity of Ukraine on Facebook.

This program provides for a number of important payments for Ukrainians, in particular for the most vulnerable categories of the population, and it was stated that the money has already been provided for in the budget.

"Currently, false information is spreading online that the funds for these payments will be taken from educational budget programs. This is not true. Social support programs for the population implemented by the Ministry of Social Policy have separate sources of funding. They are already provided for in this year's budget. In the budget for next year, these will also be separate expenditures, so funds from other areas will not be involved," the message says.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, in December, Ukraine will begin operating a winter support program, which includes payments of UAH 1,000 and UAH 6,500. They can be used for food, utilities and medicines, as well as warm clothing.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced on November 1 that he had instructed the government to form a package of social programs to support Ukrainians this winter, which will come into effect in December. In particular, the first initiative is direct support, which can be spent on the most urgent needs. As well as a separate program for those who are most in difficulty.

The Ministry of Social Policy clarified that the government is working on their implementation.
