United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres has warned that the war in Sudan is "spiraling out of control" and called for an immediate ceasefire. It was reported by CNN on Tuesday, November 4.

Guterres spoke at the UN summit in Qatar and after the militant groups seized the town of El Fasher in western Sudan. The Secretary-General called for an immediate ceasefire in the two-year conflict, which has become one of the worst humanitarian crises in the world.

"Hundreds of thousands of civilians are trapped by this siege. People are dying of malnutrition, disease and violence. And we are hearing continued reports of violations of international humanitarian law and human rights," Guterres said.

According to him, the UN has been receiving verified reports of large-scale executions since the Rapid Reaction Force, a Sudanese paramilitary organization that was subordinated to the government until 20023, entered the city.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on April 11, 2019, Sudan arrested President Omar al-Bashir. The military took over the country.
