US President Donald Trump said he has asked the Department of Defense to prepare for possible swift military action in Nigeria if the West African country fails to suppress the killing of Christians. Trump wrote about this in a post on Truth Social.

The US president emphasized that the Nigerian government needs to act quickly to stop the killing of Christians. According to him, otherwise, the United States will take action against terrorists, and will immediately stop any assistance to Nigeria if attacks on Christians continue

"If we attack, it will be fast, vicious, and sweet, just like the terrorist thugs attack our CHERISHED Christians!" Trump wrote.

Reuters reported that Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has spoken out against allegations of religious intolerance and said his country's efforts to protect religious freedom

"The characterization of Nigeria as religiously intolerant does not reflect our national reality, nor does it take into consideration the consistent and sincere efforts of the government to safeguard freedom of religion and beliefs for all Nigerians," Tinubu said.

In addition, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Nigeria has promised to continue the fight against violent extremism and protect all citizens regardless of race, creed or religion. The ministry hopes that the United States will remain a close ally for Nigeria.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, in October, the terrorist organization Boko Haram seized a city in one of the states in eastern Nigeria.
