The G7 countries will continue to provide all possible assistance in rebuilding Ukraine's energy infrastructure damaged by russian strikes.
This is stated in a joint statement adopted following the meeting of G7 energy and environment ministers.
"The G7 will work to support the energy needs of the Ukrainian economy and population. Thus, we continue to support Ukraine's efforts to repair and restore critical energy infrastructure," the document states.
The G7 countries condemned targeted russian strikes on the Ukrainian energy system, "which continue to cause devastating social, environmental and economic consequences for Ukrainians."
"Russia's recent strikes on Ukrainian natural gas infrastructure have endangered communities and people, weakening the civilian infrastructure and energy security of the Ukrainian people," the signatories stressed.
The statement also draws attention to the need to further strengthen sanctions against russia and "eliminate the russian federation's shadow tanker fleet to deprive it of war-related revenues."
