SBI detains ex-head of Ukrenergo Kudrytskyi - sources

The State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) detained former chairman of the board of Ukrenergo Volodymyr Kudrytskyi on suspicion of fraudulently embezzling funds from SE NEC Ukrenergo.

This was reported to the Ukrainian News Agency by law enforcement sources.

According to sources, in 2018, Kudrytskyi entered into a conspiracy with representatives of a private company. At that time, he held the position of Deputy Director for Investments of SE NEC Ukrenergo.

Ukrenergo and the private enterprise concluded tenders for a total amount of over UAH 68 million. After that, the SE transferred over UAH 13.7 million in advance payments to the contractor, which were misappropriated.

A Lviv businessman also appears in the case, who is suspected of Part 3 of Article 27, Part 4 of Article 190, Part 2 of Article 205-1, Part 2, Article 209 (fraud, forgery of documents, legalization (laundering) of proceeds of crime) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

The sanctions of the articles provide for a penalty of up to 12 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property.

The State Bureau of Investigation is preparing a petition to appoint a preventive measure in the form of detention for Kudrytskyi.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the former head of Ukrenergo accused the State Bureau of the theft of his phone during a search. Upon his dismissal from Ukrenergo, Kudrytskyi received over UAH 11 million in bonuses for 3 years.
